Opinion Solicitation

Heather referred me to her hair stylist so I have an appointment on Saturday for a cut and color. I have always liked Heather's hair color so I am looking forward to getting mine done by her stylist. My hair has been dark for a long time now so I feel like lightening it up, but I am not going to be changing the style. I am not sure what all she is going to be able to do at once since it isnt an easy process to go from dark to light but here are a few examples of color that I was thinking about.

This one is a more red, but not a lot lighter.

The first one is pretty light and the second one is a bit darker, with more of a highlighted effect.

I am leaning towards the last one, my sister liked the first one the best. Thoughts?

Is there any way you have time to photoshop their hair onto a picture of you? It would make choosing waaaaay easier.

I like the last one. But ,instead of doing an all-over color, couldn't you just get some lighter highlights?

Adam - Nope, dont have the time nor do I have photoshop, which is really the problem.

Madison - Yes, you are right it would probably just be highlights, which may be easier to do with my hair being so dark now then doing an all over cover that she would probably have to bleach first.

Well, I'm partial to the red, but that's just because I'm partial to red in general. That being said, I also understand that red doesn't always do well on everyone.

So I'll have to generalize it more and say stay relatively dark or dark with highlights versus the more washed out color in the second photo.

FYI Aveda doesn't use bleach or they won't admit to it. When I took my hair from kasey's color to my current color the process took a while but it was very gentle.

Also Kasey has been red before and she looks really good with that color.

That being said I like the middle one.

Oooh varying opinions, interesting.

So Monti, when you went dark to your current color she did it all at once or did she do it more gradually?

Hmpph, I thought I had decided now I dont know, I like them all.

When I went from dark to whatever I am now she did it all at once (not the blonde streak that came later). However the process took over 4 hours and you should make sure they have booked you for enough time.

I would suggest bringing those pictures with you and let Mo tell you what it would take to get your hair to that point. She might be able to take the base color up a notch or two on the first visit and then six weeks later add the highlights.

My hair was fine after the treatment but they can change the color of virgin hair much easier and more gently then colored hair. Oh well live and learn.

I like all the pictures and Mo is so cool you will have a great time. I'm so excited for you.

Good idea Monti, I am thinking with as processed as my hair is, I might be a bit of a challenge for one sitting, but thats fine. Thanks again for getting me that card, I am looking forward to getting my hair done by someone new and your hair always looks great so I know I am in good hands.

And sorry Ed, I am not a mousey girl so that cut and color would only bore the hell out of me:) I will totally take her talent though!
