Hello, my name is Kasey and I am a Refusnik

Well I guess I am not the only one not on a social networking site but does a blog count? What's funny is that the people who bug me about getting on Facebook are the same ones that never read my blog and the ones who read my blog never bug me about getting on Facebook. I don't even have a functioning computer at home or internet access and I like it that way. I don't miss it at all.

You should be on Facebook, it's fun! I hated Myspace, but FB I enjoy. Especially the games and scamming on strangers' pictures. Ohhhh, Zynga Poker...

My problem is I am not social enough. I don't want to deal with getting random emails form people I barely knew asking me whats new and then having to politely asking them whats going on with them even though I don't really care. Same reason I wouldn't go to my reunion. Scamming on strangers pictures sounds entertaining though...

I know what you mean, I hate anything in regards to high school and am only in touch with Sara and another couple of people, but to a lesser extent. I have definitely ignored some friend requests, and get the most enjoyment out of people who were either already my friends, or people I wish I had more contact with but can't - like my older cousins from my uncle's first marriage who live out of state and I just was reacquainted with at my grandparents' funerals. They are hilarious, and I feel like they are more a part of my life then before - which is a good thing. Otherwise, the whole thing is kind of silly and I really just wanted to be someone who reads your blog AND wants you to be on FB, though I understand reasons not to be.

I think it's interesting that the lady they interviewed admits that social media has merit and her company uses them, just that she's not the hands on one in that specific instance.

It has a whole lot more to do with your lifestyle. The idea that it's a culture or a revolution or an emerging clique of cool anti-users is a bit of a stretch.

Some people just aren't into interacting with people in that manner, so be it. There's nothing in the world that 100% of people participate in (with basic necessities and bodily functions excepted of course) so you're always going to have an out group.

That they've been labeled as Refusniks in this instance is an after-the-fact reaction. It's not that you all organized together as a coalition to not use it, just that you all happen to fall into the percentage of people that aren't grabbed by the media.

Just because I didn't get addicted to Lost doesn't automatically make me an Anti-Lostian. It just means I didn't get into the show, like lots of other people.

If your life is good and you don't want to use Facebook or MySpace or Twitter, then more power to you.

But blogging toootally counts. ;-)
