It has been a bad week for exercise

First there was the pyscho who shot up a gym in PA and killed 3 people. Then a woman, also in PA, was jogging and was hit by a falling tree branch and killed. What horrible ways to die.

Then there was this Time Magazine article titled "Why Exercise Won't Make You Thin" which is an incredibly misleading title. The gist is that while it's true that exercise burns calories and that you must burn calories to lose weight, exercise can also stimulate hunger, so people who exercise tend to overeat and negate their calorie deficit. So actually exercise can still make you thin but you just can't be a dumbass and eat more because of it or have mentality where you reward yourself with food for working out. Just another one of the confusing and conflicting messages about diet, exercise and weight loss that we are confronted with. I do admit that it wasn't until I figured out how to eat that the exercise really started paying off, but diet and exercise work in conjunction and exercise has far more benefits than just weight loss.
